April 16: On This Day In 2018
TTTs are legendary. How would you like to be one of his aides when he goes bonkers? OTDI 2018 we got a glimpse of how it feels, courtesy of Politico. A handful of things had gone badly for the White House that week, including their announcement that they were NOT going to quickly slap sanctions on Russia. And now Trump was headed to his Florida home to stew.
“Someone should say a prayer for Sarah (Sanders), Mercy (Schlapp) and Raj (Shah) because rest assured, Mar-A-Lago is the last place they want the president spending his time this week,” said a Politico WH source, referring to the press staff. “They have a lot of clean-up duty ahead of them.”
Speaking of clean-up: Ketchup! During his final month ever in the White House, aide Cassidy Hutchison revealed that he threw a plate against a wall, leaving a drippy ketchup mess for his staff to clean up. Well, at least he didn’t try to choke the staff, as Hutchison alleges she heard Trump tried to do to his limo driver one day.
He also has a track record of screaming at or belittling people who aren’t used to being treated that way, including the leaders of the UK, Australia, France, Germany, Ukraine, and the Palestinian Authority, just to name a few. Those details are in the Dive Deepers below.
Most of his aides and Congressional acolytes cowered when Trump was ranting and raving. But not Speaker Pelosi! As a savvy politician who for decades had gotten things done for America, she wouldn't back down: “Threats and temper tantrums are no way to negotiate foreign policy,” she told him.

Even today, of course, Trump doesn't bother to control his temper--even when he gets directly and severely punished for it. By repeatedly ignoring judges instructions, Trump has incurred fines--and is subject to multiple gag orders--in the ongoing trials over his efforts to improperly influence both the 2016 and 2020 United States federal elections.
