We are breaking from tradition today to present you with the chance to read something which did not happen on THIS day in the Trump Administration. Nevertheless, we feel it’s a fitting way to end this year.
In April 2020, Fintan O’Toole published an extraordinary opinion piece for The Irish Times. He was primarily criticizing Trump’s, and the GOP’s, response to Covid. But the way he describes the failings of the man and his party are applicable to so many aspects of Trump’s time in power.
Is it one of the more astute observations of The United States of America by a foreigner that we’ve seen. Alexis de Tocqueville would have been proud.
We encourage you to please set aside a few minutes to read it and ponder how it applies to the 2024 election. It’s called “Donald Trump has destroyed the country he promised to make great again.”
