April 28: On This Day In 2019

In the upcoming June 23 OTDI, we’ll tell you about Trump’s opinion of his own divinity. For now, it’s illustrative to hear what his staffers say on the matter.
Many of his colleagues seem to think he’s heaven-sent:
His Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said God may have sent Trump to save Israel from Iran. Not surprisingly, this was in an interview with the Christian Broadcast Network during a Pompeo trip to Israel. (Maybe Pompeo meant to say Biden helped save Israel from Iran’s April 2024 attack.)
His UN Ambassador Nikki Haley and Energy Secretary Rick Perry both praised God for sending them Trump. (Remarkable, then, that Haley could turn around and run against him in 2024.)
His Press Secretary Sarah Sanders got in on the act too, again with the Christian Broadcast Network: “I think God calls all of us to fill different roles at different times and I think that he wanted Donald Trump to become president, and that’s why he’s there.”
And the video clip below of Trump’s cabinet meeting being led in prayer by HUD Secretary Ben Carson is “seriously disturbing,” according to indy100.
Also, bonus divine selection: OTDI 2019, Trump’s Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue attended church services in Georgia led by his pastor son. The minister that day proclaimed Perdue was “called by God” to serve in Trump’s cabinet.
