On This Day In 2018
An Idiot surrounded by Clowns
Many of Trump’s advisors openly mock his intelligence. Don’t worry, we’ll bring you samples of their perspectives throughout this year. And we don’t mean to dwell on the topic of his brainpower. But we do think it’s important that dozens of the people who work most closely with Trump came away from the experience terrified that THAT’s the guy who was leading our nation.
For example: Gary Cohn was Trump’s chief economic advisor. OTDI 2018, Politico reported on Cohn’s observations:
“It’s worse than you can imagine. Trump is an idiot surrounded by clowns. Trump won’t read anything— not one-page memos, not the brief policy papers; nothing. He gets up halfway through meetings with world leaders because he is bored.
“And his staff is no better. Kushner is an entitled baby who knows nothing...” Cohn concluded: “Trump is less a person than a collection of terrible traits…I am in a constant state of shock and horror.”
Politico reported that there’s some dispute over whether Cohn used those exact words. Regardless, we could tell you about similar rants from other advisors nearly every day. But we’ll bring them to you only selectively.
Cohn’s comments were reported in @MichaelWolffNYC's book “Fire & Fury,” and were discussed here by Politico: https://www.politico.com/newsletters/morning-money/2018/01/04/more-west-wing-drama-065073
